Caring for Your Yma O Hyd Memorial Jewellery

Your jewellery is more than an accessory; it is a piece of history and a personal connection. Because it contains delicate memorial elements, it requires specific care to maintain its clarity and finish for years to come.

Your jewellery is more than an accessory; it is a piece of history and a personal connection. Because it contains delicate memorial elements, it requires specific care to maintain its clarity and finish for years to come.

1. Avoid Chemicals and Moisture

To protect both the metal and the memorial inlay, please follow the "Last On, First Off" rule:

Beauty Products: Apply perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and hand sanitizers before putting on your jewellery. Chemicals in these products can dull the shine of the metal or cause the resin to become cloudy.

Water Exposure: Always remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, or washing dishes. Prolonged exposure to water or chlorine can damage the seal of the memorial compartment.

2. Temperature and Sunlight

Direct Sunlight: While your piece is designed for daily wear, avoid leaving it in direct sunlight for extended periods (such as on a windowsill). Extreme UV exposure can eventually cause a slight yellowing or softening of certain memorial resins.

Extreme Heat: Do not expose your jewellery to high heat (e.g., saunas or hair dryers), as this can cause the memorial setting to expand or warp.

3. Cleaning Your Piece

Polishing: Use a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth or a specialized silver/gold polishing cloth to gently buff the metal.

Deep Cleaning: If the piece becomes soiled, use a damp cloth with a tiny drop of mild, pH-neutral soap. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh abrasive dips, as these can destroy the memorial element.

4. Storage

When not being worn, store your jewellery in the provided Yma O Hyd box or a soft pouch.

Keep it separate from other jewellery to prevent scratches on the surface of the resin or stones.

5. Daily Wear

We recommend removing your jewellery during "heavy" activities, such as gardening, gym workouts, or cleaning. This prevents physical impact that could crack or dislodge the memorial setting.

A Note on Resilience: Like all precious things, your jewellery may develop a natural patina over time. This is a reflection of its journey with you. By following these steps, you ensure that the memory held within remains as clear as the day it arrived.
